Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to your online courses. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
