The British government is prepared to move forward with using the full worth of seized Russian funds to bolster Ukraine's military campaign, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the leaders of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany emphasized that this unified step would increase strain on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to come to the table.

They clarified that the initiative would be implemented in close cooperation with the United States.

UK sanctions have frozen over £25bn of Russian assets since Russia launched its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, until now, money provided to the Ukrainian government using Russian holdings had exclusively been sourced from profits and interest accrued on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to drive progress toward utilizing the complete amount of the seized Russian sovereign holdings to conclude the conflict.

He added that further sanctions over the next period would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This declaration is subsequent to European leaders convened in Copenhagen recently to discuss using seized Russian funds for a €140bn financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to seize or otherwise use seized Russian assets, as reported by media sources.
